Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana announced it is donating $1 million to local relief efforts and suspending certain contractual requirements in an effort to help those affected by the worst natural disaster in U.S. history.

“The employees of Blue Cross wish to extend their support and heartfelt concern to the victims of Hurricane Katrina,” said Gery Barry, president and CEO. “As a Louisiana company, many of our own employees have also experienced tragic loss in the wake of this devastating storm.”
